What you should have read, but might have missed, last week.

newspapertextHere’s what we were reading last week:

You may or may not know, but PPNYC launched its “We’re Going to the Principal’s Office” campaign last week! More on that later, but first I wanted to share some of the great media it’s been getting:

  • The Staten Island Advance has a great piece on Sex Education in New York City that ran today.
  • NYC’s NPR station WNYC had a great piece on sex ed in New York City on the morning news and on their blog.
  • WCBS 880 had a live interview with Dana Czuczka on Wednesday afternoon, an mp3 of which we’ll be posting shortly.
  • WNBC News 4 ran a story about sex education on both their 6pm nightly news and on their daily news blog.
  • New York 1 News ran a news segment about sex education in NYC.
  • Elizabeth Benjamin covered PPNYC’s sex ed campaign on her NY Daily News Daily Politics blog.
  • Blogs Gotham Schools, Bay Ridge Journal, and Fractals all wrote about sex ed in NYC and about PPNYC’s sex ed campaign.
  • The New York Times had a great editorial clearly laying out why the abortion language in health care reform is a reasonable compromise that seeks to defuse the issue, and why further restrictions would roll back benefits women currently have.
  • The New York Times also reported on the Senate Finance Committee rejecting two anti-choice amendments.
  • The LA Times covered Personhood USA’s push to outlaw abortion through personhood initiatives.
  • Politico covered a new Pew poll on abortion.
  • Lisa Belkin’s blog, the Motherloade, has an interesting story of a young reader who’s decided to carry an unintended pregnancy to term, and her experience with a Crisis Pregnancy Center.
  • Feministing has a great piece on the Lake-Powell area woman who was forced to have a C-section.

That’s all we’ve got. Tell us, what did you read?
